Akshada Bandekar is a Musical prodigy from GOA, who is also a meritorious student having a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering and MS degree in Music Technology from University of Maimi and presently residing in Florida. Akshada remarkably began singing at an age as early as two and half years and by the time she was four years old she was very much on stage winning several prizes and acquiring a sense of professionalism in the field of music.
This young artist began her long journey towards helping the society through positive use of her talent. At a young age, Akshada contributed her might by organizing a musical solo concert at Kala Acadamy to help the Tsunami victims by donating the entire proceeds of the shows amounting to Rs 50,000/- to the Prime Ministers Relief fund at the age of six in the year 2005.
Those present at the concert entitled “SADHABHAVANA” were spell bound to see her sing at her own concert, that too at the age of six. It is remarkable that she can sing comfortably in multiple languages like Hindi, Marathi, English and Konkani.
In the year 2007, she committed herself again for the show at Kala Acadamy titled ”JEENA ISIKA NAAM HAI”and donated the proceeds of the show amounting to Rs 75,000/- to the special children of Sanjay School. Akshada is a noble girl, ever smiling and ever willing to help those in need and contribute towards creating a better and equal society.
In the year 2008, she had another concert “HUM KISI SE KUM NAHI”, in favor of girl child and distributed scholarships amounting to Rs 1,00,000/- to the meritorious girls from all across the rural schools of Goa ,through the proceeds of Concert.
Also she has been campaigning for the “SAVE GIRL CHILD MISSION” through shows and spreading the message to the public about opposing female feoticides and female infanticides. She herself has written and composed a song on Save Girl child to create awareness among the public at the age of nine. Akshada’s awareness about reaching out for those who need her is a reward in itself. She is a brilliant student and carries out her selfless work with utmost ease and passion.
She has initiated her selfless journey towards helping the less fortunate and the distressed since young age. She was awarded the “Rastriya Bal Ratna Puraskar ” and the “Big Goenkar” award for her individual contribution towards society.
Her school Principal’s views about her are there in the video clippings along with the Goa’s Chief Minister’s views about her shows on save girl child mission as also her self written and composed songs, for viewing. She has had many Concerts under her banner, naming few like Saptsur, Surdhara, Salaam Bollywood which have been well appreciated by the society and can be viewed in the News gallery.
At the age of 14, she came up with a documentary on “Save Girl Child” titled “MUJHE BACHAO” and distributed free CDs to all the schools of Goa to create awareness amongst school children.
She has also received the National Child Award at the hands of President of India H.E Shri Pranab Mukherjee at the Rastrapati Bhavan at New Delhi for her individual contribution to society through her music.
Academically she has been constantly performing exceptionally well scoring distinction in her board exams and at university.
Presently she’s actively involved in taking her initiative UNIHERSE – United for HER Safety and Equality to students in schools and colleges. Through skits and presentations she creates awareness about gender equality as she believes these students are the future and can contribute towards creating a world with equality of opportunities.
